Wisconsin Wrap-Up
With Congress back in session, I wanted to take a moment to share what I worked on throughout Wisconsin’s Third District during the August Recess:
To kick off the month, I hosted a business roundtable at Altmann Construction Co. with over 50 representatives from the construction, manufacturing, hospitality, and agricultural industries in the Third District. I will always work to ensure our local business owners have the tools and resources they need to succeed and keep WI-03 great.
I had a great time touring ECC Corrosion in Wisconsin Rapids. During my visit, we discussed how the recent tax cuts benefit our manufactures and the incredibly hardworking folks who are working overtime and will not have their overtime pay taxed.
I visited Mid-State Technical College where I toured their School of Public Safety and learned more about how they educate and train our future first responders.
During the Ellsworth Chamber meeting, I shared an update on what I’ve been working on in Congress, including the great wins for Wisconsin in the tax cuts package that will help our farmers and local business owners.
It was great to see the construction at Ellsworth Middle School where they are building a Career and Technical Education (CTE) facility so students can gain experience in technology, agriculture, consumer science, and business and help put them on a pathway to securing in-demand, well paying jobs when they enter the workforce.
I’m incredibly proud that my office was able to help secure over $4 million for Grace Lutheran Communities in Altoona that was owed to them by the IRS. Grace Lutheran Communities does incredible work for our seniors, and this long overdue payment will help ensure they can continue offering their services to folks in the area.
If you are experiencing difficulties with a federal agency and would like assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact my office where a member of my staff will be ready to help you.
I had a fantastic visit to Silver Spring Foods in Eau Claire, where the world’s best horseradishes, mustards, and sauces are produced.
I enjoyed meeting with folks at CURT Manufacturing in Eau Claire and learning more about their business and operations.
I participated in roundtables with the La Crosse Chamber, as well as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Eau Claire Chamber. We met with local business owners and had a great discussion about the wins for small businesses with the tax cuts recently signed into law, including no tax on tips and overtime and historic tax deductions for hardworking families.
I hosted a veterans roundtable in Eau Claire. During the roundtable, I shared an update on my veterans work in Congress, which includes my VA Home Loan Program Reform Act that was recently signed into law by President Trump.
It was great to visit Perrigo Gateway in Eau Claire and learn more about their work in expanding the U.S. infant formula market.
I joined folks at Westby Creamery to celebrate the announcement of their cottage cheese expansion and modernization project.
During my visit to Carr Valley Cheese in Mauston, I had the opportunity to do a tasting of the many different cheeses they produce, including Cranberry Chipotle Cheddar and Apple Smoked Fontina. There’s no question that Wisconsin has the best cheese in the world.
I enjoyed meeting with Shawn and Mark Bula, owners of Signature Farms, which is one of the largest potato and vegetable farms in Wisconsin.
To close out the month, I visited New Chester Dairy in Grand Marsh where I toured the facility and discussed what I’m working on in Congress to strengthen America’s dairy industry.
