Protesting is Better if You Know What You’re Protesting Against
On April 5th, a large group of people protested in La Crosse as part of the Hands Off 2025 day of protest. We’re blessed that La Crosse is a largely peaceful community. We don’t have a lot of Antifa thugs who agitate, hide their faces, destroy property and assault people. While we disagree with the protesters, at least they were peaceful. It’s their right to protest.
But let’s look at what they were actually told, and we’ll address it point by point. These bullet points were taken directly from the hands off 2025 dot com website. It provided a guide for the protests.
• “These Are Our Services, Our Jobs, Our Dollars: Everyone deserves good jobs, reliable services, and a fair economy—but Trump, Musk, and their billionaire buddies are destroying livelihoods, gutting public resources, and driving up costs just to pad their own pockets.”
These are not “our dollars.” They’re our grandchildren’s dollars. Actually, they’re our great great great grandchildren’s dollars, but they’re being spent now. In a short time, President Trump’s team has found hundreds of billions of dollars in waste, fraud and abuse. Trillions that can’t be accounted for. The budget deficit will be nearly $2 trillion dollars this year. $1 trillion is just paying interest on the debt.
• They’re Coming For All of Us: No matter what issues matter to you, you have a dog in this fight. The things you hold precious are absolutely on the chopping block for Trump, Musk, and congressional Republicans.
This statement means absolutely nothing. It’s a basic scare tactic where they claim that whatever is dear to you, the evil president and his minions are coming for. People project their own fears into this silliness. What I personally hold dear is my family, my church, my freedoms and my community. I hold that the government should not be a clearing house for money laundering and theft. If Trump is coming for what is dear to you, then what is dear to you is corruption.
• We Have The Power: This fight is just beginning, and we’re mobilizing to jumpstart the opposition. Together, we have the power to stop this takeover.
Another meaningless statement. I guess that these people didn’t get the memo that Donald Trump won a clear victory. To “stop this takeover” means overthrowing an election and a president. In other words, insurrection. We understand what’s at stake. If we don’t get spending under control, the government will overspend and borrow until every tax dollar goes toward paying interest on the debt. There will be no money for any government programs. None.
• This Cannot Be Business As Usual: We are facing an unconstitutional threat to our country and our freedoms through an illegal power grab. Now is the time to make our voices heard and demand our lawmakers to use their power to hold Trump and Musk accountable.
They’re right about one thing. We can’t keep doing business as usual. Government corruption and spending will be the end of our nation. Illegal power grab? One more time. Trump won the election, and he’s doing what the majority of voters want. Perhaps instead of demanding that Trump be held accountable for doing his job, we should hold lawmakers and bureaucrats accountable for what they’ve done to us. Our federal government is broken. Our tax dollars have been stolen through corruption. The Social Security Fund has been plundered. Politicians refuse to fix it. Bureaucrats live for it. There’s a reason that the counties surrounding Washington DC are the wealthiest in the nation.
When observing these people, including the talking heads, look for these meaningless statements from the true believers and understand the brainwashing:
“Trump wants to.... (insert stupid claim here).”
“Trump thinks that... (insert stupid claim here).”
“Trump is a ... (insert stupid claim here).”
“Elon is a ... (insert stupid claim here).”
Reasonable conversation with these people is impossible. Why? They don’t even know what they’re protesting against.
