Protecting Life and Lowering the Cost of Healthcare
On Tuesday, the Assembly passed a variety of bills with two of them passing with bipartisan support!
Assembly Bill 43 allows pharmacists to prescribe and dispense birth control, which protects life and lowers the rate of abortions. Currently, women can only obtain birth control through their physician. AB 43 helps simplify the process to make it easier for women to obtain common birth control, thus preventing unwanted pregnancies.
Assembly Bill 8 lowers the costs of healthcare by clearly defining what Direct Primary Care (DPC) is. DPC allows patients to choose a primary healthcare provider through a subscription or direct payment basis. These payments are organized outside of a patient's primary health insurance provider. AB 8 protects the independence of this process so patients can access care at a certain and lower cost.
