Proposed EpiPen Bill Introduced

I am proud to introduce bipartisan legislation that helps our first responders better protect those suffering from anaphylaxis.

I drafted Senate Bill 156 in response to being contacted by the family of Andrew Mueller, a Wisconsin Rapids resident who recently passed away at the age of 20 after having an allergic reaction from eating peanut butter candy. Until that moment, Andrew and his family were unaware that he had a peanut allergy.

I would encourage you to learn more about Andrew's story by clicking here.

If the police officers who first arrived at the scene were equipped with an epinephrine delivering device, Andrew's situation may have turned out differently. That is why my proposed legislation would require all first responders to be supplied with and trained to administer EpiPens.

SB 156 is being co-sponsored by a strong mix of Republicans and Democrats. The next step in the legislative process is for the bill to get public hearings in front of the Senate Committee on Government Operations, Labor and Economic Development and the Assembly Committee on Health, Aging and Long-Term Care.
