On May 1st, during the White House National Day of Prayer celebration, President Trump signed an executive order creating the Religious Liberty Commission. The Commission’s primary purpose is to study the deeply religious foundation of American history and develop strategies to protect this legacy. This protection will come in the form of policy recommendations for the President that will further protect religious freedom across the United States.

President Trump’s commitment to protecting religious freedom is encouraging. Without the right to worship God freely, the basis for all other freedoms crumble. Elected officials at all levels of government need to understand the importance of our nation’s rich religious history and the necessity for protecting religious freedom if we want our nation to thrive.
