It always bothers me a little bit when people confuse Memorial Day with Veteran's Day. While I think it is great that we respect and thank our veterans every chance we can we must not forget the true meaning of this Memorial Day holiday. This is the day when we reflect on the sacrifices of those who did not make it home from the conflict they were engaged in to help spread freedom and defend the American way. In order to commemorate this Memorial Day I decided to make the short trip to Arcadia and spend a few hours walking through their terrific memorial to ponder all the Patriots who gave everything of the United States. The Arcadia 'Soldier's Walk' Memorial covers the history of the United States from the War for Independence to the War on Terror and it is a remarkable reminder. I encourage everyone to visit and soak in the history that is contained in all the memorials and plaques. Here is a small example of my time there.
