Defend-able support?
We live in the great Midwest, so I don't worry too much about what people are doing on the coasts. We live in Wisconsin, so when we talk about Illinois, it's easy to get a superiority complex. That can be a danger in your thinking.
Both the mayor of Chicago and the governor of Illinois, have raised a great fuss about how ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is arresting criminals. They include in their arguments that ICE is involved in terrorism. They say that ICE is spreading fear in the community.
The scientific method involves making an observation, question what you've 'seen', form a plan to alter, test, and form a conclusion.
Both leaders have chosen to provide sanctuary to immigrants. They have chosen to NOT work with immigration authorities as a result, their ego has an imprint that requires them to defend their choices. (We all have egos.) They have people in their jails (Criminals are not people that we want to have close to us when they misbehave.). So, they have observed, questioned, made a plan, tested, and let their ego conclude, they were 'right'. We can see that NOT turning criminals over to a federal authority has been a cause of increased effort, of federal law enforcement; to do their job. Along with that increase, immigrants that have not broken a state law, have been taken into custody. They have broken federal law. And, it is not surprising that the released criminals congregate with them. Their faulty conclusion has caused what they call terrorism. Their own ego will not allow them to see that they are the root cause of that 'terrorism'.
This performance by leaders, in Minnesota (Again, beware of superiority complex.), is closely allied to the events following the George Floyd murder (Derek Chauvin convicted). Democrat leaders supported those who were "mostly peaceful" protestors who had been jailed for assault and property damage. (By the definition of mostly, these protestors are the criminal minority.) Their ego driven choice was to raise monies for these criminals. They think they had virtue in siding with society's 'victims'! They skipped over the fact that CRIMINALS PRODUCE VICTIMS.
We return attention to Illinois, and see the same 'skip'. When we look to the coasts and the large cities, we see that same 'skip'.
Does defending criminals (not defense attorneys) make one virtuous or somewhat likely to commit a criminal act? After all is said, I've observed - over time with media - that it is the second option among the 'peaceful protestors'.
