This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. There is no question that it was one of the darkest days in American history. But in the days that followed 9/11, Americans of all backgrounds, colors, and religions banded together to support our first responder heroes and help uplift our nation.

For those of us who witnessed the tragedy unfold and lived through the aftermath, it's a day the will remain with us for the rest of our lives. For the younger generation, it has become something they learn about in history books. That's why it is so important for all of us to talk to our children about what happened that day. There is no doubt the events of 9/11 changed our county forever. Join me in pausing on this anniversary to reflect and to remember the victims, families, survivors and the heroes who ran to help.
