The Onalaska police department has reported to our campaign that they have recovered a recently stolen campaign field sign. It was reportedly found posted in an illegal location at an intersection attached to government property in the Town of Onalaska with large black swastikas painted on both sides.

Law enforcement removed the illegally posted sign and immediately informed the campaign of the incident.

I am very grateful to the Onalaska Police Department for their work and quickly reporting this to my campaign. I’m glad that no one was harmed but am saddened that this illegal activity is occurring. No matter which person or party you support, no one should engage in this type of highly offensive vandalism.

Unfortunately, politics has become very polarizing, and passions can run very high. Fear and intimidation tactics like this should have no place in our community. Instances such as this are intended to intimidate and discourage candidates from running for public office and for voters to support them, but we will not be intimidated. We will continue to fight for the law-abiding men and women in the Coulee Region and be a strong voice for law and order.

What did Steve Doyle know about this crime and when did he know it?

The Republican Party of Monroe County has had problems with sign damage too! Specifically, near the north end of Superior Avenue in Tomah some 4x8 signs were slashed into pieces -- on a couple of occasions -- and totally destroyed. The steel fence posts were even removed and tossed in the nearby weeds. The smaller yard signs appeared to be ridden through (or over) with a bike of some sort -- maybe motorized.
A suspect has been arrested and charged with two counts of property damage and one count of trespass. This suspect not only damaged property and trespassed, but violated a most basic and important right -- that of freedom of speech.
If you know of other similar damage please share the information with your County Republican Party and local law enforcement.
