Capitol Christmas Tree

Yes, it's a far cry from previous Christmas trees in the Capitol Rotunda in Madison. But I appreciate the effort by my colleagues Reps. Shae Sortwell and Paul Tittl to add a little holiday spirit inside the Capitol. (See video below.)

Sharing the message of hope, peace and joy is important at Christmas as Christians around the world celebrate Jesus' birth. This message is conveyed through a variety of displays, including a simple tree. Whether you celebrate the season or not, this message is universal.

The Evers administration rejected the permit for the display and that decision is being appealed. As you can see from the photo above, the tree is still there.

I have heard from GOP legislators and staff who work at the Capitol that they're glad the tree went up. I am told that it isn't a finished product yet. The tree will continue to get decorated with ornaments made by Wisconsin school children.

I love people who stand up for what is right, and I admire their courage and diligence in putting up a Christmas tree in my Capitol building!

And that ain't no Holiday Tree!
