Chinese Hacking

Ever since we launched the re-designed web site we have been defending ourselves from hacking attempts. This is the world we live in today. The image you see is the back trace I did on the most recent attempt which happened to originate in China.

Other attempts came from Eastern Europe and one from France. Defending the web site against these kinds of attacks is a major pain in the butt. It is not rocket science but it is Computer Science so there is some work to be done and most of that work is research.

I'm going to start keeping track of all the time I spend defending against hacking attempts and hardening our software to prevent penetrations just to get a better idea at how costly it is. I'll keep you all posted of my findings when I have them.

My reason for bringing this up is to help inform all of you that these types of attacks really do take place every single day in the real world. These are not just news stories that pundits theorize about. This is a growing problem in the information world and I am very, very interested to see how President Trump will address this during his presidency. I am extremely pleased to see that Rudy Guiliani is going to fill the role of Cybersecurity Advisor so they are definitely paying attention to this issue.

Stay tuned to see how things turn out.
