This week, something the media has repeatedly told us doesn’t happen, happened.

The Democrat governor of New Jersey admitted that between June 2023 and June 2024, roughly 6,600 noncitizens were registered to vote.

They called it a “software error” in New Jersey’s motor vehicle system.

And here’s the kicker: a preliminary analysis found that around 400 of those noncitizens actually cast ballots in U.S. elections.

For years, we’ve been told noncitizen voting isn’t a real problem. Now, we have hundreds of votes that prove otherwise.

That’s why the House of Representatives took action to pass the SAVE America Act yet again, this time by combining it with other legislation.

The SAVE America Act does two simple things. It requires proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote and photo identification to cast a ballot.

Wisconsin already requires voter ID, a law we passed when I served in the state Legislature. But several states, including Minnesota, Illinois, and California, still do not have basic ID requirements.

Wisconsinites have made their position clear. 71% of Wisconsin voters supported a constitutional amendment stating that only U.S. citizens are eligible to vote in our elections.

The SAVE America Act is common sense. American elections should be decided by American citizens, and it’s past time for the Senate to get it done.

Speaking of common sense, it’s also common sense that Members of Congress shouldn’t use their positions to enrich themselves through stock trading.

Telegram readers know that I have never traded stocks while serving in Congress. But the reality is that far too many politicians in Washington do.

This week, I voted for Congressman Bryan Steil’s (WI-01) Stop Insider Trading Act, which would prohibit Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from purchasing individual stocks and help ensure that no lawmaker can use their position or privileged information for personal financial gain.

Astonishingly, 198 Democrats voted against it. You can view that vote here.

You deserve representatives who are focused on serving you, not their stock portfolios. I will always be transparent with you and put the people I represent first.
