The August partisan primary is behind us—and I’m encouraged by what we saw at the ballot box.

Of the six candidates Wisconsin Family Action endorsed in contested primary races, five won their primaries. That tremendously affirms our decision to support candidates who will stand for life, family, religious liberty, and Biblical values. And in the one race where our endorsed candidate did not prevail, we are grateful that the winner is also a strong pro-family candidate.

But one result deserves special attention.

David Varnam won the Republican primary for Lieutenant Governor by an impressive 12 points.

David is a former Wisconsin Family Action board member who made defending life and protecting women’s sports central to his campaign. His victory sends a powerful message to candidates across Wisconsin:

Faith voters matter. Candidates who ignore them do so at their own peril.

David didn’t run away from these issues. He ran toward them—and Wisconsin voters rewarded him.

Candidates are watching. They are asking which issues move voters and which constituencies show up when it matters. David’s 12-point victory makes clear that there is a significant constituency of voters who want leaders willing to stand unapologetically for Biblical principles.

And there was another exciting development after the election.

I had the opportunity to speak with gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany, and he shared with me that faith voters and the constitutional amendment to protect churches are key priorities for him heading into the November election.

That is significant.

For years, we have worked to ensure candidates understand the importance of Wisconsin’s faith voters. We have prayed, educated, mobilized churches, and built relationships so that Biblical values are not treated as an afterthought in our elections.

Because of that, we are now seeing candidates actively run toward these issues.

That is a big deal for you; our partners.

Unlike our current governor, we have a candidate who is actively embracing issues that reflect godly principles—and a Lieutenant Governor candidate who has demonstrated that standing firmly on life and family issues can win.

Wisconsin’s faith voters have an opportunity to make their voice heard in a way that could have enormous consequences for our state.

The primary is over, but our work is just beginning.

The months ahead hold an opportunity to educate voters, mobilize churches, and ensure candidates understand that Wisconsin’s faith community will not sit on the sidelines.

We will stand. We will speak. And we will vote.
